Famitsu has released an interesting list this week, the top 100 best-selling games in Japan for the 21st century.
Sales are for the period beginning January 1, 2001 and ending September 29, 2013.
Posted below are the top 40, which are lead by 2006's New Super Mario Bros. for the DS with 6.5 million copies sold.

Sweet, Dragon Quest 8 is on this list!!! I am reliving that game in all its glory on a emulator for my laptop, where I can save at anytime at will. That was the one and only game where I bought the system for one game and one game only (PS2). Now I just wish Square would gets its act together and release all those Dragon Quest goodies here in America! I would like to see a list of all time video games now, I bet the original NES would dominate! I really could care less about any system released after the XBOX, I now just play my old favorites and ignore new releases. Newer games either lost their magic or I just grew up and lost interest.
