Question about ASPI and W2K/XP:
Somebody (I think DrChips) said you don't need ASPI layer with Win2K/WinXP, because they use Native NT SCSI library...?
SmartRipper is giving me trouble under new XP install.
I have to open all DVD with player first.
I never had to do this before with Win2K Pro.
SmartRipper was on Auto and would use ASPI.
Now it never uses ASPI, it uses WinI/O and DeCSS, after starting movie with DVD player.
Something is different and I can't figure it out exactly ;-(
I have used SmartRipper about a million times, so this is really downin' me out - suggestions from XP experts, please?
Thanks & Regards

Aside from it not being what you want... what's wrong with WinI/O?

It's just a pain, I never had to do it before and I always forget.
SmartRipper will complain, then I have to start up the DVD player and wait for the disk to begin...
It's no biggie but the thing is, there should be no difference between the W2K and the XP experience, right?
I mean, I had heard the warning that 'you may have to start your DVD player first' and had always thought thank gawd I don't have to do that! I never did, it just worked.
Now it's different and I'm geekin' out trying to figure out why. I don't rip much anymore anyway, but this is stickin' in my craw, y'know? I need to figure out what's different, or what I had done before that made it work.
