This is my disturbing story of how I killed my ps2 using just Swap Magic. I arrived home after a night out, had a few drinks and decided to play the ps2. So I was going to play crazy taxi (cd-r), so I put in the Swap Magic CD then thought it would be clever to see what would happen if I was to try and put in the Swap Magic DVD when asked to insert disk, so I did and then the thing froze and ever since then it hasn't been able to read DVDs. I only had the thing with a flip top for 4 months, so I can presume it was swap magic that killed it then and not just the laser dying from death by dvd-r/cd-r? Hope somebody gets some amusement from my mis-fortune!

I don't think it was because of what you say. One time, i accidentaly used a CD instead of a DVD, and it didn't worked, but it wasn't ruined. Try the tutorials over the net on the ps2 laser lens, the ones who cover laser lens calibrating.
