yes Nero may be a good start...but remember one thing. Most dvd players do not read .AVI, you may have to convert them to mpegs or VOB files. Whatever may suit you.

You will need some sort of video conversion software or dvd authoring software.Have a look in the software section on this site one that stick out to mind is TMPGEnc.Personally i like to use easy x video and unlead dvd. There is plenty of software about to sort this out for you.You may also want to have a good read of some the the guides on this site on how to convert as well.As some of the members on this site have put some really good guides together.

an alternative is trying cucusofts avi2meg to convert your AVI to mpeg2 (either PAL or NTSC ) then using TMPGEnc dvd author to finish your project.I quite like this program. Another program you may like to read up on is Sony's Dvd Architect (an all in one program)

He says his DVD player plays AVI files. Maybe you can just put your AVI file to CD and play it on your DVD player if your DVD player can play CD's. Also, if you want a DVD and not a CD, use TMPGEnc as your encoder for that has the best results. Than after converting use TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 to make chapters and a menu for your DVD. Below is a link to a guide you can use to convert an AVI to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc.
