Microsoft has boasted of having the top-selling hardware for December in the U.S., citing the most recent NPD figures. Sony announced that its cumulative sales of the PS4 surpassed 4.2 million as of 28th December.

Comparatively, the Xbox One only sold three million as of New Years. Of course, the PS4 launched a week earlier in the US, but it also launched a week later in various European territories.
