That is weird, I just read where MS is rethinking the whole idea. So which is it? I would not mind the iPad version myself.

The 7 story will be XP all over again, it's inevitable.
People do not upgrade their OS until they know the new one is genuinely a lot better or it is old & lacking support.
Business especially seems to move at glacial pace & so put a drag on the matter too.

Win 9 (or, at a stretch maybe even as late as 10) will be the next big one.
It's just the natural by-product of success.
