I have done so many right clicks and looked at the same property list I almost know it by heart. dvd shrink first let me preview what I was watching in the bottom screen but now it wont even give me the option. Am I missing something?

Edit > Preferences... > Preview tab.
Check Enable video and audio preview

Select DirectX video renderer:
System Default Renderer
VMR-9
VMR-7
Overlay Mixer
Built-in Software renderer

Try all five choices for a video renderer and see which works and which works the best on your system.
