I could care less about this unless they will have this option added onto aftermarket radios.

I never keep the stock OEM radio in my car, I always upgrade and install a new radio myself for multiple reasons.

There's Android versions on the way, as well, so the actuasl discussion should be: Is this a good idea? And I think it might be.

I personally prefer Android over iOS, but regardless, an OS that unifies car controls across many models and manufacturers is a good idea, ASSUMING you provide better security than most extant iOS or Android devices. Someone hacking your phone/tablet can be a serious pain in the ass, but someone hacking your CAR can be deadly!

That said, simplifying and unifying a car's various controls and adding the possibility of customizing them, including installing additional apps, is a potentially compelling idea.

But, hang on... it's only optional right? You could pick between the iOS or Android version? ... You can't?

I'm not sure I'd like it if it was forced on me Boz.

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

Then install an aftermarket device; you still can. It's not like you'll get less control than you have NOW, right?
