Hi:

When I try to burn a VCD using Nero, the process would start and proceed normally, as soon as the burning process is completed, status bar 100%, Nero would just stay there. It wdoes not give me the dialogue box that says "Burn Process Completed SuccessfullY". It happens all the time, only when I am burning VCD's. I have to restart the computer to unlock the program. By the way, the VCD burns fine, its just that Nero does not end the process.
Any ideas????I have reinstalled Nero atleast 5 times.

Nero 6.3.1.17; HP A530n, AMD 64 Processor, Hp 400c DVD Writer; Windows XP Home.

Avoid creating directly a VCD with Nero (it's buggy, maybe Nero Express works?). Use VCDEasy and then, after you checked the correct settings (expecially NTSC/PAL) and created the VideoCD.BIN/CUE set with the 'virtual image recorder', burn it with Nero.
This works 100%.

I have the very same computer AND the very same problem. So I created my VCD in another program and just used Nero to burn image (bin file) and same thing - it burns fine but locks up and I have to reboot the computer too.
So what could the problem be?

JGIRL: I solved that problem, it turns out that the firmware on the DVD writer was faulty. The firmware that came installed was "Bh04", there is a new version out of rit and you can download it fromm HP's website, the new version is "Fh04".

Download and install that firmware and Voila..

I had the same issue with HP, according to them there was no update. I used Nero Tools to verify my DVD writer and the firmware on my DVD writer. The firmware was Bh04, the older version.

I searched HP site for the upgrade to Bh04 and came up with Fh04. I contacted HP about it and they said that no it wasnt for my system....when on the website it clearly said it was. I waited a few days and asked HP to confirm my DVD writer firmware, they did and said it was Bh04, then I asked them if there was an update and they said yes, Fh04.

I installed the update and burned a few VCD without any problems. BTW, you need to have 'Record Now' (the CD burning software that came with the computeR)installed on your computer to update the firmware.

I will provide you with a link to the firmware shortly, I cannot access my email account at this time and that is where I have the link.

HP has idiots for technical support, they do not know anything.

Send me an email, my email is listed on an earlier thread- I will respond to your email with the link in about an hour or so.
