I'm running dvd2avi 1.7.7.3 on Windows XP Home, 2GHz. Audio is set to Decode to Wav. If I do a save project, I only get the .Wav file; no video file results.

If I select save avi (what does this do), I'm asked to select a codec after specifying a file name. No matter what I chose Full Frames (uncompressed), No recompression, 4 Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codecs, I just end up with a 0 length avi file. If I go to save project, I just get the .wav file.

Is there any other way to convert this vob file to another format? Vegas video tries to open it, then after 30 minutes says that it can't open the file.

Might the dvd2avi problem be a codec problem?

One way would be feeding the resulting DVD2AVI project file into VFAPIConv and create a pseudo AVI file (no audio) which then can be imported with the WAV file into Vegas.

get tmpgenc and use that to get your movie. Use dvd2avi to create the audio (when it does it also creates a small file .dv2 to allow you to setup the video portion for tmpgenc). Tmpgenc will combine the 2 files to create either a svcd or vcd structured file. Don't deleted the vob files on the hard drive because tmpgenc uses them for the video portion.

Exactly. DVD2AVI's AVI saving can be described only as "highly experimental" and NOT recommended. Do .d2v files and encode with TMPGEnc or if you insist going to DivX or XviD use VFAPIConvert -- read our guides for VCD/DivX/XviD/SVCD instructions.

Hi guys, I have similar problem. I am using the same dvd2avi 1.77.3 on Windows XP Prof Ed. I want to use the program to get .wav and .d2v for TMPGEnc. When I select demux all tracks the results was .d2v and .ac3. But when I choose decode to wav, my computer goes error and restarting. When I checked the folder it has unfinished .d2v and .wav. Anyone can help. Thanks

TMPGEnc worked on my large vob. On the smaller ones, I'm getting the error "vts_07.dv2" can not open, or unsupported.

Any suggestions?

are you sure you ripped the correct vob files to your hard drive?? If you are just looking for the movie, there should only be 1 (maybe 2) files that are small. use the f5 function in dvd2avi for a few seconds, then stop it. Take the slider bar and slide it all the way over to the right. Does the movie play correctly??? If not, you have some incorrect vob files. I ripped one movie with dvd decryptor (old version) and checking it with dvd2avi, it looked like the correct vob files were downloaded, but when I started making the wav file, it would crash my computer 10 minutes into the conversion. After a couple of tries, I tried using smartripper and after re-ripping the movie to the hard drive I noticed the 1 vob file was different than what dvd decryptor downloaded. I converted the movie fine with the files smartripper downloaded. So, you might try a different ripper and see if the vob files are different.
