Hi, I just ripped the files off of the dvd finding nemo with dvd decrypter and im ended up with a big file. So i thought i could use dvd shrink, but im not sure how, i just found out from other threads that shrink doesnt burn, is this right? So I need to use shrink to compress the files, but how do i compress the files, then burn to a dvd+r 4.7 gb disc? I use verbatim disc if it makes a difference. My drive is a SONY DVD RW DW-U14A 2.0c. Thanks for the help. If theres any more info you might need, please let me know.
also, devilhunt said i might need to update my aspi? or firmware? I looked into aspi stuff, but it just confused me and sacred me. I read taht it might mess up my drives? and the firmware i cant find for my drive. Thanks

Correct. Shrink is a combined "Ripper" & "Transcoder". it uses other 3rd party app's to burn. (IE Nero & DVD decrypter)

When you hit "backup" in Shrink set your "target" to "Iso image". This will output a file that can be burnt with DVD Decrypter.
To burn with Decrypter just select "Mode - iso - write". Locate your ISO file, after browsing, and just select it. Decrypter will do teh rest.
I would personally try the above steps before messing with your firmware or ASPI layer. Remember "if it aint broke, don't fix it"

Yo can also use Clone DVD 2. This program works beautifully. Ive discovered that the best way to use dvd decryptor before u decrypt is to go to mode then check file. Afterwards open ur dvd 2 or shrink and ur all set.
Just the facts Ma'am, Nothing but the facts

It is considered bad manners to butt in on a thread and post about something that doesn't have anything to do with what that thread is about.
You may love CloneDVD 2. You may think is is the greatest DVD back-up program there is. But that is not what this thread was about. This thread asked specific questions that were already answered, and I don't think they were asking you opinion of CloneDVD 2. It is very likely that they are satisfied with the FREE DVD Shrink program and just needed some operating instuction and are not interested in buying another program because it is what you like.

Why don't you start over.
Download DVD Shrink 3.2 if you don't already have it.
Open Shrink.
Open Disc.
When you click Backup make sure to Select backup target: ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter
Stay home while the DVD is burning.
If there are any errors, copy any error messages.
Copy the DVD Decrypter Log and post it here.

here are some pictures of the dvd decrypter errors when i burn dvd ps2 games, i asked my sister, she said it was the same for the dvd.
edit: for the games, i've tried both mds files and iso files, both get the error, i only took screen shots of these 2, but they are the same error.

Go with what Brian 100 suggested as he's been doing it for ages and knows what he's talking about. Both DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are totally free and work like a charm. Use DVD Shrink to rip and shrink the iso image, then DVD Decrypter to burn the iso.
Most other programs cost $ and don't work half as well.
The latest version of DVD Shrink is brilliant! I'm sure you love it.
Follow the guides, and you'll piss it in......
Good Luck.......

I have both DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, newest versions. But I guess its just by chance, the dvd burns sometimes, and sometimes it doesnt. I follow the guides exactly, and followed brian, but I still get the error. Im not sure what im doing wrong. Guess its all luck? No idea. Thanks for the help.

Would you try to post an error log for a DVD movie?
When things don't work, there is a reason. The folks here at AD are pretty good about getting someone going again. Finding out what is wrong is a process of elimination. There's a certain sequence that things are tried. Info is required from you every step of the way.

Backing up PS2 games with dvd decrypter is something i know NOTHIng about. Try the ps2 forums.
As stated before, until we know the EXACT error messages we are unable to help.
What media are you burning onto?. have you tried various brands to see if the problem is repeatable?

well, sorry for not replying. I updated my aspi layer with force aspi, re installed all the programs, DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. Then did a virus scan, deleted the only things found, adware. Then I updated the firmware. It works great now. Sorry once again for not replying.
Im using verbatim mostly, and once in a while fujifilm.
Thanks for the help everyone.

First, you aren't supposed to use all CAPS in your post. It's considered yelling, OK?
Now, are you saying absolutely nothing happens when you do Open Disc, or does a folder request come up?
Let us know what is actually happening, OK? Also, what software burner are you going to be using.
Anyway, as a first suggestion I would say to download v3.2 again, and re-install it. Then try.

I tried a movie with shrink and got a css error. So I then used decrypter in ISO mode and and saved it to my HD. I like the ability to preview with shrink so I can see what I'm keeping, but when I tried to open the saved file in shrink it said it did not recognize the file type. Is it because I used ISO mode? Any help is greatly appreciated....

When you use decrypter with shrink, set the mode to files, start decrypt. Then you open shrink and use open file- the button on the top second from the left. Then either backup or re-arthur

zippyd... I'm not going to tell you to rip them again in File Mode like datageek because it is not necessary.
If you used ISO Mode in DVD Decrypter then in DVD Shrink just use File > Open Disc Image.

First time poster here, after being a fairly long time reader of this forum (which is just a wealth of information to any newbie like myself great stuf guys)
my opinion to any new convert is to read the "dvd shrink how to burn" instruction thread as there is plenty of info & easy to use instructions from experienced members.
one point i will make in regards to burning is to close down any screen saver, firewall & anti-virus software you have running & do not use your pc until the burning process is complete, whenever i have had a hiccup in using shrink/decryptor it is nearly always when i have forgot those basic rules.
