article published on 12 April, 2014

Billionaire and 'Shark Tank' investor Mark Cuban has put forward $250,000 of his own money to help the "PowerPot" succeed, a pot that lets you charge your smartphone with boiling water. Cuban paid $250,000 for a 12 percent stake in the company, a seat on the board of directors and 3% in "adviser options." With the investment, the company is worth over $2 million, seemingly a good value ... [ read the full article ]

Not sure how useful it would be in africa for $150; that's serious cash for someone who cannot afford food.

water powered mini generators (basically thats what it is) could be useful in remote places with no electricity like villages in parts of africa with no mains electricity, $150 isn't that much if 150 people put $1 each in and share it.

custom built gaming pc from early 2010,ps2 with 15 games all original,ps3 500gbs with 5 games all original, yamaha amp and 5.1channel surround sound speakers,46inch sony lcd smart tv.

This definitely looks like something innovative and life changing. I have read stories about how villages in rural areas of the world have people that, for a fee, will transport electronic devices to the nearest village with power, in order to charge those same devices. This could be a game changer for them, and could possibly upgrade the way of life for all involved. It will be interesting to see where this device ends up.

I think it would be a scam if it didn't perform as advertised. While $150 would be quite an investment for those don't quite have that amount of capital, I could imagine that as it is produced, the cost of production will become less as it is matured. I could imagine that someday it would be "Ronco" branded, and be made available for $19.99 plus shipping and handling. And a second one available for absolutely free, just pay shipping and handling of $9.99! ;-)
