The site works but using a 100kbs public hotspot the video was choppy and unwatchable. If it works with faster connection then someone is going to be in big trouble once the masses find out and start using popcorn time. The authorities will find the ones responsible sooner then they did Bin Laden.

The "best version" by our standards are 720p and 1080p movie releases by Yify. Not a low std and definitely not compressed. Try using the app before criticizing it

If yify vids are the ones that the app considers best quality then the choices are very limited, that pirates vids average 1gb in size that means a very very low bitrate once you factor in the space required for passthru audio, even a converted audio would require 100mb of space which leaves only 900mb for the video,OK, OK yeah it's watchable, great on a small screen say up to 20" perhaps 25" after that those onscreen artifacts will steadily get worse.Well lets face it who wants to stream files over 2gb in size. For real decent viewing you need 3gb or more.By the way 720p or 1080 means nothing when it comes to quality

YIFY's encodes are not bad

V/ 9
A/ 4

YIFY nerfs the sound to get the smaller file sizes they offer... Which is unfortunate because the sound sucks. Offering 5.1 sound wouldn't raise the file sizes by any significance but the requests on their site go ignored. There are better options out there.

YIFY provides a broad range of content in pretty watchable quality (wouldn't put video at a 9 though) which is fine for this kind of thing but I tend to avoid their releases.

They can't really get in trouble since their app simply "scours the web" for the vids. It only grabs what's available. If they get in trouble.........I'm guessing it will be rather unprecedented for them to legally pursue Popcorn Time. They aren't even linking people to the vids, just cataloging them.
