Nvidia's Titan X GPU is here to crush the competition

article published on 4 March, 2015

CEO Jen-Hsun Huang says the GPU has 8 billion transistors, uses the new Nvidia Maxwell architecture and has a ridiculous 12 gigabytes of VRAM. More will be revealed on the spec side in the coming weeks, but Nvidia demoed the power of the Titan X by showing off 'Thief in the Shadows,' a VR experience ... [ read the full article ]

I do. I've been with Newegg right from their beginning but over the past few years Amazon's been quite cheaper on many occasions and their return policy puts Newegg's to shame.

Unfortunately, hearme obviously searched to find the most expensive offering and used it to fuel his ramblings.

That link isn't Amazon's offering. It's merely a seller using Amazon's marketplace. It's nothing more than "scalpers" inflating prices, trying to take advantage of launch day cards.

Ya I've had to fight Newegg over dumb mobo stuff, had to use google wallet protection thing and send them the damn board for a refund....

So dose this only use half the advertised ramm and stuff? :P

I've had to do the same actually; but with a bit less fuss. I demanded my $ back instead and got it, then bought the board cheaper elsewhere.

Although I don't doubt that sometimes Amazon can have cheaper prices; I still don't rely on that and found 90% of the time I can get cheaper prices elsewhere using shopbot or pricebat. I also done enough research to know which stores can be reliable on : delivery, returns and support.

Use Amazon tho if it makes you happy, but with a little research you might find there are in fact better options.

I Decided on going for the z97 OC formula full ATX board and not the Matx since I had to send it back and all and got nothing but grief, I even bought the mobo from them first(only a 370$ mobo).... there was not much of a price variance in it at the time.
Ya my new since November or so rig is an full tower with enclosed water cooling block kit, I7 4.0 at 4 core 8 thread OC'd to 4.7 stable in Win8.1, 16GB ramm at 2400Mhz and a EVA ACT/ACX whatever 760 at 2GB. I really...really...really should put off video shopping till last prices be crazy!

I waffle between Ebay, Amazon and Newegg and sometimes Directron. If a random place pops up with something cheap I will use either Gwallet or Paypal.

That's a very sweet rig. Way up from mine, I still only running an AMD 9590 running at 5.2Ghz on a Sabertooth 990FX, with 16GB 1866mhz, 1 R9 290x all enclosed with water cooling in a Thermaltake Level 10 Snow case; with Win 8.1 running off my Intel 520. I want to switch to a z97, but I also want to see what next year's tech is going to be before I make the switch. My pride inside is actually my Apogee Gold CPU block, and thankfully I have the Intel bracket to carry over.

I had a x4 phenom AM3 with 8GB 1886 ramm before this shiny rig ^^

I hope AMD can beat out the I7's but who knows!

Hows the AMD video cards been treating I am a Nvidia fan and seen the horrors of ATI and some wonky AMD but some AMD vendor builds are kinda awesome on paper.

I use Club 3D and it was a pain to get it to run stable; eventually I ended up using a customized 14.12 Omega driver to get my PC to be stable. It hasn't crashed once in 3 months. I also custom installed nvidia drivers so I could still use their PhysX software in gaming apps. In my mind I get the best of both worlds, but that's only because I jimmy with a lot of stuff.

That said, ATI division of AMD isn't looking so hot right now, and I really want to switch out to Intel before AMD decides they want to stop producing chips for PC. I fear their video cards are heading towards a dark path too, as there really is a lack of support for their cards; which is a huge shame as mine works flawlessly for now, with very few hiccups. Still with their recent layoffs, it's not looking too good for the R9 39x series, especially if that impacts the time of driver support. Also AMD focusing more on mobile technology than CPU's is kind of annoying me too.

I think AMD is in a rut and that the video cards department is more of a keeping up appearance thing. I dunno VIA might could go dark horse and and start offering mid range CPU/MOBO combi boards. But realistically AMD needs to get off its X86 ass and make to keep up with the desktop CPU market. It would be a shame if they gave up and just focused on ARM stuff.
