Rare, the developer behind the massive hits Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie and Goldeneye for Sega and N64 is preparing to launch a new game at the E3 gaming expo next month. Very cool. I just bought Banjo-Tooie the other day for the N64. This might be the first DLC game I buy ever (outside of some Humble Bundles) if it works out. Wonder how it will play on the PS4 or Wii U.

There's actually a few articles on Rare out there as well as documented info from previous employees outlining the history of Rare and the fall. The company just isn't and hasn't been what it was during the N64 erra and as they continued to decline Nintendo felt their only real viable option was to Sell their shares to M$ who seemed like an awful idea at first but would make perfect sense within a couple years of the buyout.

Unfortunately Rare isn't anything like they once were and most notable developers were lost in the transition, and the creativity that Nintendo allowed them once, became a production chopping block environment. to be honest I'm surprised to see they are even still around, it will be interesting to see what they can produce but I wouldn't have standards set to high.
