Apple recalls hundreds of thousands of Beats Pill XL speakers

article published on 4 June, 2015

Apple has recalled nearly 222,000 of its Beats Pill XL speakers in the U.S., after 'rare' reports of batteries overheating. The company said they received 8 reports of batteries overheating and one of a user who received minor burns. Apple has asked anyone using the speakers to discontinue using the product and will offer all customers refunds or $325 store credit. The speakers ... [ read the full article ]

Hmmm,

Batteries over heating? How about calling it a fire hazard for what i would think it actually is. A better story that really provides the real reason for the recall...

As a user over heat, oh who cares if they get a little warmer then they should. Talk about a fire, now i care...

That's actually pretty decent of Apple (or rather, decent by apple standards), to recall something that is clearly dangerous because of a non removable battery, and doing so without waiting years and years. I wonder if they have learned their lesson, or if maybe it is just because it was released before apple bought beats, so they can more easily admit that it is trash since they did not develop it.

I doubt they are doing this out of the kindness of their heart, I would say their lawyers explained they are still at risk for any lawsuit where the unit is shown to have caused a fire. Probably much cheap for the return policy instead of the legal fees, damages, and penalties they may face because of issue.

Other concerns aside, this is yet another bit of proof that Beats Audio products simply are terrible, period. The only other audio brand that I can compare it to for lack of value for the dollar is Skullcandy*. Bose deserves an honorable mention here, but at least Bose also happens to sound good, after you give them your bucket of money; can't say the same for Beats Audio or Skullcandy products - bleh.

* OK, yeah, there's Shakti Innovations (Shakti Stones are SO funny) and Monster Cable, but if you buy that crap, well, there's just no hope for you; you are P.T. Barnum's b*tch xD.

I can't agree more about the Be4t quality, when looking for a new pair of headphones, asking friends what to get, what they liked... Anyone that mentioned Be4ts all said about the same thing, "Stay away from them, the quality is crap and will physically fall apart soon." I didn't hear one person give a favorable review, some mentioned they owned a couple pairs as their pair fall apart so quickly after purchasing the store allowed an exchange.

Hey Bozos,

I guess the expression might be:
"You get what you pay for... but you can pay too much for it!"

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.
