Not really (and certainly not for free) if you want them to play like a normal DVD.

All current systems can be circumvented so whats the point - you could try contacting the RIAA for advice.

1) That's a first
2) I didn't know we had such high profile people on Afterdawn, that we had to worry about security.

And here's a thought, If your able to break the encryption, what makes you think others won't be able to break yours if you implement one?

This is hardly the solution, but if you use poor quality media :) ... you friends will have a hard time ripping the movie.

Or ... just don't lend them to your friends :)

You know you really shouldn't backup a dvd, then lend it to your friends.

Making a backup then distributing it to your friends is piracy.

It's impossible - the CSS key lies in a special area on pressed DVDs that isn't present on burnt DVDs.

The best encryption is the same encryption that comes on the original and costs $$$ to license from Macrovision and as we all know it's easily bypassed.

You can make a disc as secure as you want but the more secure you make it the less compatible it is. Password protection and encryption are possible but when you do that whoever plays the disc will need the password or a way to decrypt the disc in order to view it and therefore mitigate the protection anyway.
