Adblock, the popular ad blocking software for Chrome and Safari has been sold this week, although it is unclear to who. The extension has over 40 million users, so clearly there was some value there although it is a bit strange that we don't know the amount of the sale, or to whom. Using adblock to block adblock, HAH!

I'm not sure why but i always thought Adblock was already part of Adblock plus.

Been using adblock edge for over a year,ever since adblock plus let ads thru,it came recommended by 2oldgeek as did ghostery add on,liking them so far

AdBlock Plus whitelists some ads by default, but lets you easily turn off that behavior. And this is NOT a bad thing.

Look, sites have to pay for hosting AND the content they serve up to you for free. Yes, obnoxious ads with inappropriate sound/flashing graphics, malware attacks, and the like are why I use AdBlock in the 1st place, but if you want your free content to stay free, well, better learn to let at least SOME of 'em through.

Unless, of course, you'd rather pay a membership fee for every single website you use.
