No Audio in Movie Playback

I have a few ripped DVD's that have audio in the menu and elsewhere, but when i try to play the actual movie, there is no audio in the movie. I have heard that there is some sort of patch, specifically designed for each particular movie, that must be inserted into the video TS file before burning, but i am unsure of whether this is 1) the case, and 2) where to find these "patches" if it is the case!
