Duo Modchip - Red screen on PS2 originals and backups

I installed a Duo Modchip in my v4 PS2. I tested all the wiring with a multimeter and everything seems to be connected without any bridging.

The problem is when I turn on my PS2 using the Duo directions (press eject, load game, tap reset) it seems like it is about to load the game, but instead fires up the red "Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc" screen. This happens on both PS2 originals and backups.

If I hold down the reset button to disable the Duo modchip, then my PS2 originals work fine so I don't think it is the laser (which I had recently replaced anyway).

Has anybody else seen this problem before?

Your wires are connected in correctly some how. I would check your DVD controller points and the bios points. Make sure EVERY wire is connected to where it is supposed to be.

I checked all my points again. Everything is where it is supposed to be. I'm following the directions posted on the Duo Modchip website for v4 gap bios.
