I have a Packard Bell Laptop with a DVD+RW drive. I burned a couple of DVDs with no trouble at all when I first started using it but now I get Write Fail messages evertime I try to burn a DVD. I have no trouble with CD-R or CD-RW but DVDs are no go. Im using NERO 6 or DVDDencrypt. Im nervous about uninstalling and reinstalling the drive as its the main one on the machine.
Any help will be appreciated, but please make it simple to follow as im not the most Computer Literate person in the world!

Hi,

A little more info would help :)

Is the drive internal or external?

What make/model burner is it? Firmware version? Nero Info Tool will give you this information.

What brand/type media are you using?

Can you post a Nero log with the errors?

Firmware Version:- DX35

Unsure about make/model as it was supplied with PC

Using Datapaq DVD+R

The only way I can post a Nero error log is when I get home and it will involve ruining another disc.

Do you have any rewritable DVD's (DVD-RW) to test with and not ruin discs? A Nero log would help quite a bit to give accurate advice.

I can't really comment on the firmware issue without knowing the exact make/model. Nero Info Tools didn't list any sort of name, numbers or letter combinations for the drive? The best suggestion I have is to go to Packard Bell's website and check to see if there are any updates for the drive in your specific model laptop.
