Yesterday, Valve was forced to shut down the Steam store after users were able to see personal information in other people's accounts through their own dashboard. Network engineer here,

I can say from experience, "shit happens man". Sometimes it's unexplained and unwarranted.

Can you say "ghosts in the machine"?

It's not very often and 99% user error but occasionally, it does indeed occur. Especially Windows Systems, which I'm sure Steam's backbone is governed by...at least to some degree.

Hmmmm. First I knew of this. They don't even tell the users. I like how they say " We believe no unauthorized actions were allowed on accounts beyond the viewing of cached page information and no additional action is required by users."

I would feel better knowing they knew this for sure lol.
