HELP!
I just bought all the hardware necessary to copy my massive collection of vhs tapes to dvd-r; and i can't seem to find a descent software which will allow a straight copy..it might be nice to add menu's or add other features, like (frame)picture extract, but i have looked at the spec's and read the comments for several programs and i am still left wondering if the program will allow me to pop in a tape pop in a dvd-r and press record and get a playable disc after an unbelievable amount of time..i don't want to buy 4-5 different programs that range between 40-100$ just to find out a freeware might have done it!
any help; commentz or sugggestionz plz!

Welcome ....A couple of questions

Need to know how you plan to capture the video. Most
capture cards come with software to capture to a file
on your harddrive from your VHS. Most have many
compression options to choose from. Ounce you have
the file on your harddrive all ya ned to do is burn
it. I am not sure what free option there are for this
as I have Nero. But may be some one will know.

As for menus, I don't think so without alot of work. At least for me.

Your looking at 2 hours to capture (for a 2 hour movie) and 45 min to burn.

Good luck

Hi,
I was just wondering what hardware you purchased and the aproximate cost of it. I have been dabbling with VHS to DVD-R for some time now and haven't had much luck. I don't really want to spend any more money unless I am sure the results will be positive.
