Hi all - very first post here. I am looking for dvd-r silvers or gold bottoms, and not purple. Anyone know where I can get these? I know many people say you cannot, but I have seen others using them to backup movies, but they wont tell me where they are from. I'm guessing importing them from Japan or somewhere.

Please help if you know of any information regarding this issue.

I've never seen or heard of gold or silver bottom burnable DVDs. Why the aversion to purple dye?
