I usually use DVDXCOPY to backup my DVDs but this time I didnt want to make 2 discs so I got DVD shrink. I ripped the DVD to the hard disc and played it and it played fine all the way through. So then I opened DVD shrink again Opened it from the hard disc and burned it to a blank DVD. It took 20 minutes each of the 3 times I did it. They all take a while to load on my DVD player, then the menu comes up and its so pixelated and out of color its unbeleveable. But you can tell its a menu and the sound works kind of. But when you click on play movie it doesnt work. Then I try them on my new laptop, and they start but halfway through most of the episodes the discs just crap out and lock up PowerDVD XP. Frustrated I burned it on 2 discs with DVDXCOPY, with the same media, and they work fine. This is a family guy DVD set I bought and I dont want to burn 2 discs for all of them, what can I do to make DVDshrink work, maybe not on my DVD player which is old but at least my laptop. Thanks for any help anyone can give. I have a Desktop: P4 2.0Ghz Geforce4mx 512 ram, and a laptop, P4 2.3Ghz ATi 512 ram. Thanks

What burning software are you using? If you are not using Nero then I suggest you use DVD Decrypter to burn.
Encode the disc in question again, this time when you hit "Backup" in Shrink set "Target " to "ISo image" This will output the file as a ISo on your hardrive that DVD Decrypter can burn. To burn with Decrypter select "Mode - iso - write" Locate your ISO file, after browsing, and select it. Hit the burn icon and Decrypter will do the rest. Decrypter has a burning engine built in, its freeware (donations accepted). I know this works since I have done this myself and I learned about right here in this forum from a fellow member. Hi,

Heavy compression can affect the compatibility of the disc as well as using low quality media.

Episodic discs present a particular problem because the entire disc is usually taken up by the episodes with little to no extras that can be removed to lower the overall compression so my best guggestion would be to try higher quality media (Ritek G04/05, Verbatim DataLife Plus, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden) as well as burning at a lower speed :)
