According to founder Lei Jun, the company has 16 million 'reservations' for its new Mi 5 flagship smartphone, beating expectations handily. Wow!

I may hate cellular everything but this is really a great price for a high-spec phone.

Tho, I don't think Xiaomi phones work with American LTE rendering them virtually useless and worthless.

That was my sister-in-law's experience too. She was carrying her $90/- Xiami Redmi 2 when she was in Boston. My nephews absolutely loved the UI and the speed of the phone. They particularly liked the modified built in apps. Apps like Whatsapp and Gmail and others that could use wifi worked flawlessly. Unfortunately absolutely none of the sim cards could connect. They tried quite a variety of unlocked / linked sims.
