Yesterday, Sony took that stage at GDC to announce the consumer version of their highly-anticipated PlayStation VR headset. The PSVR is scheduled to launch in October for $399, pricing it under rival devices like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, both of which require PCs with high-end specs. It's a split 1080p OLED screen (960x1080p). Running at 90 or 120hz but most probably at 60 Hz as they devised a software fix for that.

I'm sure they will look ok but they always exaggerate the performance of these things. Sony themselves said somewhere that the more complex the game, the slower the framerate on their VR. ...Shame it can't exploit freesync.

And, yep, it's costs way more in Oz... pre-sale sold out anyway.

Meanwhile the specs needed for the Occulus are outre'... wtf?
