AT&T adds uncapped tier to its U-verse broadband service

article published on 30 March, 2016

AT&T has announced this week that it will increase monthly data caps for its U-verse home broadband service, including adding a new unlimited tier. The first tier, which includes users who pay for speeds that vary from .8Mbps to 6Mbps, will now get 300 GB per month, up from 250 GB per month. Back in the day, I had unlimited broadband on AT&T. Then AT&T imposed a cap. Even though I didn't use that much data, I called AT&T to cancel my service so I could switch as a matter of principle. AT&T refused to let me cancel because I was in the middle of my contract. I told them that when I signed up for the contract, they didn't have a cap, and if they're going to change their terms of service in that significant of a manner, then I should be entitled to cancel. Their response: "Our terms of service say we can change the terms of service at any time." They wouldn't let me out of the contract.

When the contract ended, I bolted from AT&T as fast as I could.

Now, they're advertising a new unlimited tier. I don't think so. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Now, I have Cox. They aren't perfect, but I have far less interruptions, much faster service (roughly 40x faster), customer service that doesn't involve talking to India, and no contract.

No thanks, AT&T.

You should have threatened to sue the ever-living crap out of them for not letting you cancel after they capped your data. I loathe ATT...
