Thats the only diff. Plus with the open top, you dont need the slide card to open it. All you do is push open since it doesnt eject.

the fliptop is easier, faster, and doesn't force your dvd tray open.

Theres also a price difference. With a fliptop you have to whip out a credit card and buy it online but with a slide card well, you can just make one yourself like I did! (This method also requires you to whip out a credit card.) Slide card is practically free and works great for me.
