Using VirtualDub - Error Msg

Have a couple of files that I was trying to run thru VirtualDub to render so I could get both video and audio output to burn to DVD. However, when I go to "Save File to AVI' I get an error msg ..."Error Getting Compressor Output Format Size". I have tried all the different compression formats in VirtualDub but get the same response from all of them. Please help. Thanks
