I was reading this guide

http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/dvd2vcd_with_smart_dvd2avi_tmpgenc.cfm

I successfully ripped the *vob from the dvd, and I downsampled the audio. I also saved the file in DVD2AVI as specified, but now I am not able to open the *.d2v file in TMPGEnc.

Also, the movie I am ripping is PAL, I would like to convert it to NTSC, then encode it as a VCD, however. Is this possible?

Thank you,
sonus

You need to install VFAPI plugin for TMPGEnc -- download it from TMPGEnc's homepage.

Yes, it was happening to me too. All you have to do to fix this is to open DVD2AVI program and then close it, since when you do that DVD2AVI dll gets registered in Windows and from then on when you open TMPGEnc and select Options -> Environmental Settings -> VFAPI plug-in tab, you should now see DVD2AVI project file reader as one of the plug-ins.

I started getting this all of a sudden too. I copied the DVD2AVI.vfp file from the DVD2AVI folder into the TMPGEnc folder and now it works. I read this hint somewhere. It must be some piece of software I've installed that stuffed it up as it never used to need that vfp to be in the TMPGEnc folder before. Anytway seems to work fine once again.

Well....I tried all of those "fixes"....and had to figure my own....

UNDER XP .....do the following....

Unzip a NEW copy of DVD2AVi into the TMpgenc folder........then run the new DVD2AVI ...open a VOB and preview it. DON't close DVD2AVI ......Now Open TMPgenc and load a d2v project file into the video selection line. Now you are cooking with GAS!!!!

I did exactly that and everything works ...you don't have to have DVD2AVI open afterward to open a d2v in TMpgenc.

I am not saying that ALL of the above steps are necessary ...but the steps are exactly what I did and the prob vanished.

Blakers: Very, very helpful message, thank you. Install TMPGEnc, go to TMPGEnc.net, go to downloads, download the latest VFAPI Plugin -- it's version HAS TO match with the TMPGEnc's version. Then start AVI.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2AVI and it should register itself with TMPGEnc, then open the .d2v with TMPGEnc.

My solution was for Tmpgenc 12a .....

When I installed 2.54a it registered the vfapi etc and i set that priority to high.

Never had any issues with it.....

BTW Blakers.....U are using the video source entry BELOW the preview screen and NOT the Tmpgenc Project loader in the file menu ......I hope.

Use DVD2AVI v1.76 or v1.84, NOT the v1.82 -- 1.82 doesn't work with TMPGEnc. Download v1.84 from here:
