We just got this game last month and decided to make a backup and put the original away, thats when I ran into the problem; to better explain my problem let me let you know our setup; PS2 V7 with Magic V modchip, DVD decrypter, Nero 6 ultra and Alcohol 120%.
I was able to backup my games before without a problem so I wonder is something has changed since then. I have 5 backups that I play all the time, they play fine right now, but when trying to backup FN2004 all I got is a lot of noise from the laser trying to read the disc; if I insert a original or previous backup they play fine.
I have try 3 different brands of media(using DVD-R)and still same result. I have used Nero, Alcohol and DVD decrypter with no success.

Any ideas?

By the way I'm using a 8X Nu DVD burner

Try using DVDDECRYPTOR to read the image, then choose START>RUN>MSCONFIG>STARTUP, uncheck all prgs that are checked, restart. Then use ALCOHOL 120% to do a 1x burn.

Actually, I've had success with backups, that overwork the laser, when I use DVD+R instead of -R.

After many coasters and different programs I found the solution to my problem, someone suggested DVD Decrypter but like I said before I had try that already. My problems was realted to my Burner not closing the disk at the end, even when the burn was succeful; I had to backup the game to a DVD+R, and this is weird because I was using in the past only DVD-R. The even weirdest thing is that I used 5 diferent media types, Immatiion, Maxell, Memorex, adn some cheap brand without success.
I don't know how to explain this, but I never had a problem in the past with DVD-R media.

I had trouble with Memorex except in 1 or 2 cases, but I've used Verbatim discs(which most agree are the best to use) and FN2004 works great every time, it even surprised me the first time I tried it, because I had some games that didn't work on the first try.

Forgot to mention that I have always used Decrypter with no problems as long as your write speed is 1x. It's worth the extra 5-10 minutes to wait to get a decent backup.
