I went ahead and took the leap and bought the hd loader from ps2warehouse.com. I could not find any info on resellerratings or any other websites. I recieved it today and it seems to be legit. I haven't tried it out yet because I am still waiting for the hd to get here. The only problem was that it was held in customs (I live in the US, shipped from Canada) and when I got the package, it had been opened. Not only the package, but the contents were opened and the disc was all scratched to shit. The package was sealed with "Examined By US Customs Border Protection". So, I don't know if it was ps2warehouse.com or customs that did that. I assuming it was customs because there are all these US DEPT. OF HOMELAND SECURITY stamps all over it. I'll let everyone know once I get it all up and running. So far, they do seem legit. They just need to do some more business and build up a rating.
Ok. I contacted ps2warehouse.com and they offered to exchange the disc for me. I will recieve my hd on tuesday and let everyone know. I looked on the back of the disc and it does say HDL USA 1.0. I guess they really are legit. I don't think you should have anything to worry about when you order from these guys.
Yes, they are in Canada. It's been a while on this post, wow. I have been using the HDLoader for a while now. I have two 80GB. HDD allready filled with games. Not a bad product.
That's up to you. I am not sure of the other site, and I have only ordered once from ps2 warehouse. So, in my opinion, it's risky either way- but ps2 warehouse did send me my stuff.
gdw,
I was just about to get a slimline ps2 with a matrix infinity and then i read all these forums about the lasers buring out and not sure if the fix is 100% What's the deal. Should i just wait?
I'm not sure about the laser burning out. I haven't heard much about it. If you buy one now, there is always a warranty on it. I'm not sure about how fast Sony is about fixing stuff like that, but if it has a mod chip in it, I know they won't touch it. So, your taking a big risk. I would wait a little while to see if the issue is recognized by Sony (they would not recognize the "disk read error" problem)and see if they resolve it. It's too much money to throw away.
