Microsoft used their special event yesterday to unveil a handful of new products and features, with the most promising being the Surface Studio all-in-one PC. The premium model has 32 Gb of system RAM, 4 Gb of GPU RAM which explains the super high price. I also notice no disk drive. IIRC, the disc drive isn't dead so I wonder what their reasoning is besides copying Apple not having a disc drive on their new Mac-Minis.

they could have offered a 16 GB RAM (or even 8 GB RAM; being a non-gamer and non-media editor, i never needed > 8) with non dGPU card model to keep it affordable.
i don't find any reason either for a "desktop" not to have an ODD. no ODD makes sense for a laptop though.

They do offer versions with 16 Gb & 8 Gb RAM according to the Microsoft Website although I dunno what application you could use 16 Gb of RAM for (Maybe Gaming or VMware).........

good to know that they offer. but there is no surface book offer in india, let alone the studio.
but still 1TB/Intel® Core? i5-8GB-dGPU- $2,999...too much!!!
yeh, virtual machines may require 16 GB, and some ERP software as well.
