I`ve tryed downloading popular torrents and always seem to be connected to 150 peers and about 2 seeds!
i have not downloaded at a decent speed for age`s.
should i not be seeing decent speeds with loads of peers? or are the seeds crucial to downloading at my maximum?

Download speed depends on your connection and peers + seeds.

I take it that you're using Azureus. Well, with Azureus, you'll get a decent speed in 5 - 10 minutes with a Cable connection. It starts of slow but rises steady to three digit figures for me :)

The file you are trying to download probably isn't very popular.

Im using bittornado,the torrents i`ve been downloading are always popular.
I`ve got a 750k connection(cable) and download at 80-85 maximum but lately i dont get near that.
sometimes i can be connected to 50 peers and 50 seeds and still see poor speeds.

Try using Azureus, and it will do a port check among other checks to see if your internet settings are right for BT.

Azureus is also a great client, and I've been having much better speeds with it than any other clients.
