I believe I had a similar problem...
I had DivX 5.1.1 Pro Adware and uninstalled it to install the 5.2 Pro 6-month trial. For some reason, when I opened the compression settings window in VirtualDub, it told me that the 6-month trial period had expired, though the new version hasn't even been out for 6 months yet.
Luckily, though, I was getting ready for my occasional re-format, and that solved my problem. I can't think of what would fix that problem without wiping your drive; my guess is that DivX is misunderstanding some registry key somewhere.
I would probably try emailing DivX support or something... You deserve the 6-month trial just as much as anybody else. Just tell them the circumstances surrounding the problem, and I'm sure they'll try to help out. My guess is we're not the only ones experiencing this error.
If they aren't helpful, and you are desperate enough, I would purge my drive of any files resembling anything DivX, and search the registry for any DivX-related strings as well. This might work, it might not, but only screw around with your registry as a last resort and only if you have everything important backed up or don't care much for system stability.
The safest bet would be to try e-mailing DivX, though.
Tried it...doesn't work. They usually have some sort of registry key in there so that when the trial expires, you can't just uninstall and reinstall. It's also usually kinda hard to find.
But I'm assuming that tubbs hasn't had the trial for 6 months, considering it hasn't even been out that long.
sorry guys - you've got the wrong end of the stick. I have a divx file that requires authentication. It will only work for a limited period & I want to rip the data from it to keep it for good. Does anyone know anything about this?
If you are horrably desperate, you can try the following:
Use BitTorrent and go to suprnova.com.
Go to Apps and look in the proper OS or whatever.
Then, Look for the "D" section and download one of the folders that has the serial so that you can get the URL and Retrieve the Activation Key. HEHEHE!
