Our PC friends have DVDInfo to tell them the actual manufacturer of DVD media. Is there such an application for Mac?
[Possibly this query is better placed in another forum but I doubt whether the PC people would know. More likely to get the answer from a Mac user]

I tried that with a Memorex 4x DVD-R media and it said that it was manufactured by Ritek, here is the output!:

According to the babelfish translation of the page - these are
the system requirements to run the software:

Enviroments hardware requirement

Mac OS X 10.3.3

Super the DVD-R drive which supported Drive and the like of
Apple, the entry to DVD-R media. We verified operation with
the following drive.

IMac (Flat LCD) Super Drive (PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104
A227)

There are times when reading of media information is not
supported depending upon the DVD-R drive which you have
used. With the following drive it could not grasp media
information.

PowerBook G4 12 inch Super Drive (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-815)

Perhaps, it operates even with DVD+R/RW drive, but for the
present operation is lack of confirmation.

The maker of those discs is Inter Axial.

Hi Londor,

Wow, thank you so much to *you* for the reference to DVD Media Inspector! It seems to be the only DVD Demystefier for Macs.
We're using Mac OS 10.3.5, Toast 6.0.7, OWC's FireWire/USB DVR-107D DVD+_R/+_RW. The application worked like a charm.
A BIG Thank-You to raktajino.
People who have questions about DVDs should go to this ever-so-helpful site. They even offer opinions, imagine that!

We are photographers and worry constantly about burning speed, reliability and longevity of media.
Thank you again raktajino and Londor.
