Can anyone tell me how to clean a V4 Playstation 2 Laser? And if they can, provide some picture as well. And also include the risks that involves in cleaning the Laser. Thanks

i clean it using cottonswab gently wipe the dusk from the lens.
Theres also the rubbing alcohol method but i don't
recommend it.

Ok, I just found a guide on IGN.Com, and it says to order to clean it, I must remove a screw from the Lens Cover with the Jewelry Screwdriver, but what's a Jewelry Screwdriver? Never heard of it.

Hey,
there is a much simpler less risk way of doing it, you can find on the web (don't know what site sorry) a disc which has little bits on the bottom of it and you put it in like a normal disc and it cleans it about £10
hope that helps

I used DVD cleaner and compressed air to clean it. in case u dunno what compressed air is, it comes in a can and when you spray it, it comes out blowing hard wind. compressed air seem to work well, just read the instuction on the can or else you probably WOULD damage your system cause spraying the commpressed air too much on one spot would actually freeze that spot so becareful lol... and it's very hazard to sniff those haha

DVD cleaning discs have been known to scratch the lens... then you're screwed.
Use the q-tip/rubbing alcohol method, I do it every three months. A jewelry screwdriver is just a really small one... a steak knife should work.
Make the q-tip damp, not wet, rub it for a minute, pressing down gently, then dry it with the other end. Let it air for a few minutes to make sure it dries, then you're good to go.

And I assume you take off the top cover to get to the laser? Right?
You don't void your warranty or anything do you?

You do void your warranty but it doesn't matter. Chances are that you have had your ps2 for longer than 90 days right. Well if you have then your warranty is expired so sony wont help you if anything happens to it.

I tried a steak knife to open the tray cover, but it doesn't seem to work. What size screwdriver do u think should work?

Nvm, i opened my dad's 150 tools box and found a screwdriver and it worked and opened the disc box tray, thanks guys.
