Guy's i am having problems finalising dvd's either on dvd shrink or dvd x copy. Sometimes the dvd will finalise but sometimes it wont. It's wasting alot of my blank media. Anyone else hving these problems?

p.s can you copy a copy?

Sounds like a problem related to the use of poor quality media - what brand of media are u attempting to burn to?

Can normally make a copy of copy without any problems except with media burned with DVD X Copy.

Ritek and Verbatim tend to be the preferred media for burning by many members of these forums and can generally be purchased at very reasonably prices. See the DVD Media forum for advice or use the search button and type in DVD media for more detailed advice.

Similarly, look at some of ScubaPetes guides to media.

Additionally re previous post, you cannot normally copy a copy of unfinalised media, although you may be able to play same.

You can copy a backup made by XCopy, using any disc copy program. But it also helps if you use quailty media from the start.

Generally cheap and reliable don't go together when it comes to dvd media :)

Have tried (in Aus) 4 brands of blank media TDK, Verbatim, Laser & just recently Princo,
TDK i had quite a few coasters but that might have been because i was just starting out,
Verbatim i had no problems,
Laser which are a cheapy gave me about a 95% success rate,
Princo I have only just started using but as of yet no coasters & very good quality of burnt movies.

1-verbatim- very good, excellent, slightly on the high side.
2-TDK, Maxell, Sony-good, not great, medium priced
3-Princo-sucks
4-Memorex-sucks
5-Ritek(branded)G04-very good .52 cents ea. at Meritline w/free shipping- I would add out of over 300 backups, only one bad disc. Pretty good track record. Proof it doesn't have to be expensive to be good.
