Do a search, I know i've seen posts on this subject. something along the lines of removing movies and the like. Somewhere I read about rip packs for individual games to combat the size barrier on a case-by-case basis.
This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.

Just buy a dual layer burner and the dual layer discs. I use alcohol and sometimes dvd decryptor to burn the .mds file image that Alcohol creates.

or you could just get the regular version of madden which is DVD-5 and not the collectors edition which is DVD-9.

i backedup rallisport challenge 2 (xbox) using decyptor(to burn),it failed,i mean the game loads then all of a sudden i get "check disc it may be dirty or damaged"...all i can put it down to is that decryptor isn't dual layered compliant, can you confirm this? craxtion tells me that all xbe's are patched.

samuels, you get better help in the xbox forum. Secondly, to play a duel layer backup, you must have a mod chip that will play it.
