connecting win7 pc to sony bravia with hdmi help

Hi im trying to connect our pc ( win7) to our sony bravia tv. Have connected a hdmi cable to the sony bravia hdmi 'in' slot and the other end to a pc hdmi slot, when i go to control panel on pc to connect to external display the tv is not detected. Please help. what am i doing wrong?? how can i connect my pc to our tv easily. Any help most appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried the other way around and select the input on your TV from the PC?I'm pretty sure that's the way you have to do it.

check settings that dual monitors is enabled,by default it's usually off
