I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right section, so please move if needed.

I'm somewhat green when it comes to PC technology, so please excuse my ignorance.

I watch a lot of internet streamed football on my desktop PC, which I have hooked up to my AOC 19" monitor which runs at a max resolution of 1440x900. Now the stream I use runs very smoothly, no buffering or lagging, almost as if it was a TV broadcast. The problem I have is the picture is quite blocky when I make the window bigger or full screen. I have watched the same stream on my fathers 15.6" laptop which has a 1280x800 resolution and the picture is somewhat better even at full screen.

So I was thinking that I may invest in a better spec monitor, I was looking at a 22" Full HD Viewsonic and also a 23" Philips Full HD. But I was wondering if the monitors would improve the picture at all, and with them being considerably bigger than the AOC is it possible that the picture would be worse? My other thought was to maybe get a laptop for watching the football, maybe a 17" with a 1600x900 reolution capability, and that the smaller screen would produce a clearer picture?

If anybody has any experience or advice I would greatly appreciate it before I part with any cash.

Cheers Stew

It isn't the screen's fault; it is the low quality feed causing the blockyness; this is very common with streaming video.

You could try turing down the resolution for windows; this might help matters, as the image will be stretched by the screen rather than by windows. Better yet, feed it into a crummy old SD CRT screen...that should elmimate almost all of the blocks.

Thanks for the reply KB.
Is changing the resolution for windows different from right clicking on the desktop and selecting screen resolution? I'm using Windows 7 by the way.
