I'm just going to copy/paste this from the other forum I posted it on.

-I realize this is a big senior project, but my dad seems very much involved and interested and this is a big plus for me because he's never taken too much interest in me before.
Alright so my senior project starting time has arrived, and my dad has agreed to at least give me a serious chance at doing this, and even though there's a chance it might not happen, I don't want you to keep from helping me out with this.
My senior project is going to be a giant colaboration of the following things and I'm hoping to, in a way, "futurize" my house. I am going to be posting many pictures of my house for everyone soon so you can get a visualization of everything. I'll post 2 pictures of every room plus I will draw the best floor plan I can possibly do in paint(lol).
Here's what I'm hoping to accomplish in this project:
**ALL THINGS CAN BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE IF YOU SHOW ME SOMETHING THAT IS BETTER FOR ME, ETC**
-WDTV Live in every room that has a television(I don't want to attatch a wireless dongle to them because I have a big brick house and wireless signal doesn't travel far) (or if I find something better of the sort, then I will choose that...Currently there are 5, but some rooms have potential that we might add one in here so 5 is the min. but not necessarily the max)
-Networking hardwired in every room, some rooms having them in at least 2 locations(There are currently 5 bedrooms, 1 "other" room, 1 large "L" shaped kitchen, 1 basement, 1 garage, 2 dining rooms, 1 sun room, 1 living room)(14 rooms total, at LEAST the kitchen and the garage having 2 network locations, or possibly wireless network extenders in the garage)
-I'm pushing to have the "Living Room" Re-arranged(would be by my mom because she decorates) and have a complete Home Theatre setup with this new HP fully multi-touch monitor LD4200tm (This would be an interactive room)
-I would build one media center PC and this would be located in the "Living Room"
-There would be a seperate server built to house all the harddrives that will store the media that all the rooms will connect to. This would be where all my Movies, Music, and Pictures will be stored for all of these devices to access.
-I will probably have to figure out how many wired network connections there will be total and find out how I will connect them all to a central network in it's own loop, but still give my "Internet network" access to that network. Here is a quick demonstration of what I mean:
Basically I want all those Rooms with BD Live and HTPC to be able to access the internet, but I don't want them directly on my Router that my 360 and stuff are connected to...does that make sense to anyone?
After this is complete I believe that should be everything. This was all in my head coming out as I was talking to my mom on my way home from town. I'm sure there is some small detail that I have missed but we have a big house and we're always having different people over and we're in different areas of the house and me and my parents all have COMPLETELY different tastes in music and Movies and we have lots of little rugrats running around here and my mom is always trying to play movies for them or buy them or rent them or do them on Netflix.
