Connect the cable, then right-click on the desktop and select proporties. In there you can turn the second screen (the TV).

You may also have to hit a function key, hold down the FN (usually colored blue) and hit the one that looks like a screen.

Where, exactly? I see no trace of this option.

What is your operating system? Mac? Windows XP? Windows Vista? Windows 7?

Er, I'm sorry... I misunderstood.

Right click anywhere on the desktop where there's nothing, click properties, and then go to the "settings" tab. From there you should see two boxes, one with "1" and one with "2", the greyed out one is the one that isn't displaying anything currently. Click on it, and pick 'extend my desktop to this monitor".

You can also drag it around so you can choose where you need to move your mose to move to it, so for example, if your TV is on the right, move the TV box to the right of the other one. They'll also have different resolutions.

i only needed to connect a vga cable between my tv and laptop and choose vga in the tv menu(my laptop runs on vista and i had no need to change any settings on it, i did have to before when i used svideo but not with vga) all i do then is choose inputs on my tv remote and i see about 8 options dtv, atv,av1,av2,hdmi1,hdmi2,vga and i go to vga and press ok. you will also need a second cable for audio (as vga will give you video only) you can a twin phono to jack cable or a jack to jack cable. twin phono end connects to the phono audio outputs on your tv(there are most often 3 phono outputs together 1 is video out and the others are audio outputs, they are red ,yellow and white and will say output or input)you then connect the jack end into the earphone or speaker connection on your laptop. you can buy the cables in maplins or pc world(maplins are better i would say for cables).
