Can anyone give me any advice on projectors? My daughter wants one for xmas. She will be using it for her laptop, xbox and tv/dvd. I dont want to pay more than £500 and I know this wont get me a great one, but I want to know which is the best for this price bracket. Been looking on ebay and its a bit of a minefield!! Thanks

I have heard that the mitsubishi projector is half-decent, it is only 720P, but projectors don't project that high of a detail anyway. It's $670 usd.

Ive found what looks like a good deal on Ebuyer. Its an Epson EH-DM2 for less than £460 and you get a free screen and picture frame! The only thing is Im not sure how I will connect her freeview box?? I normally just use scart leads but this doesnt have a scart plug. Im sure I'll sort it out!! Cant wait for xmas day!!!

That epson unit is just SD, and it has no digital inputs. The Optoma GameTime GT7000 DLP Projector is about the same price, is HD, and has a HDMI port (as well as a d-sub port to connect to a PC). Picture quality is far superior thanks to the HD, but the SD picture quality on the Optima is also better than the SD resolution on the Epson.

How would I connect a freeview box to one of these?

You can get cables that adapt scart to VGA. I used to have a link to a gefin cable that did this perfectly, but it has been discontinued because both formats are ancient, and few people need the cable. You can find cables that look identical on ebay...not sure about the insides though.
