ive got a panasonic th-42px70b & i connect my samsung r610 laptop via hdmi cable to watch movies i download (watch films via vlc media player) but screen flickers when ive got it set to 60hz. its got on the back of my tv that its 50/60hz. i have to put the hz via my laptop settings to 30hz but i then loose my 1080p settings.
another problem i have is watching blurays (via corel windvd2010 & cyberlink power dvd2010) it starts off from the menu but when the film starts i loose the picture on the above tv but still have sound (my laptop has a bluray rom built in as standard) any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I had some of the same issues before. I didn't have to do much of anything but cycle the TV and the laptop. Power them down and power them back up and see what happens. That would help sometimes but what ended up solving the problem completely was updating my VLC Media Player to the latest version. I'm using version 1.1.2 The Luggage right now and it works great. I download a lot of movies and TV shows via torrents. I don't even watch DVDs much anymore but when I do I always use my HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop.
