How to play VOB files on Samsung LED TV

I have a Samsung LED Tv model# UN40C6300SF. I am trying to play VOB files stored on a external HDD (500gb freeagent) through the USB port on the TV. There are usually 4 or 5 VOB files per DVD, my TV usually plays 3/4 or 3/5 files then stated "codec not supported". I contacted Samsung and they said my TV is not compatible with VOB files. Is there another way to play VOB files?

Yes, Convert the files to MKV or another compatiable codec your TV will handel with converting software such as '4videosoft mkv video converting software' or 'DVDFAB'.
