So I was given a "broken" HP Plasma tv (very large). I figured I would take a look at it and see if I could make it work. I was told that they had turned off the cable box, which left the screen black (with the tv on) for a "long time". From what I know about Plasma TVs, any image left on the screen for a long time is bad. I know of image retention, and image burn, but I don't know much about it.

Essentially now the TV is always really dark. Also when I first turn it on, the i,age kind of fades in, from the middle out. Kind of like it takes longer for the pixels on the sides to light up. Its kind of hard to explain. After the TV runs for awhile, it stays overly dark, and any spots in the TV show that are black (cars, hair, shadows..), when returned to a different color, actually stay black briefly then fade to the right color.

I hope this makes a little sense, and I really hope someone might be able to help me. I read somewhere that white noise can potentially help image burn, so I have the TV sitting with white noise right now. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks!
