Firstly, I did try to search the forums, and also felt this was the most applicable forum.

I have Dish Network. I had a dvd-ram recorder for the rare times I want to record something. It broke.

Is it possible to buy my own DVR-DVD combo, and record with it? I know it would limit its capabilities. I just would like to know if it would actually work.
