Comcast SA 8300HD Hard Drive Upgrade

I have two questions about the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR as provided by Comcast.

-Can the 8300HD internal hard drive be replaced with a larger hard drive much like can be easily done with the TIVO HD DVR?

-Does the native internal hard drive use a pata or sata interface?

We want to add a second TV to our Comcast cable service. I have a choice of using a Comcast supplied SA 8300HD DVR or buying a second Tivo HD. With respect to cost and usability, there are pros and cons that more or less balance out to a coin toss. However, if the 8300SD cannot be upgraded to a usable hard drive size, it loses considerable ground to the Tivo HD. For various reasons, including cost, I do not want to use an external esata device.
